What is BFBB?

Battle for Bikini Bottom (BFBB) is a 2003 platformer video game developed by Heavy Iron Studios for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox consoles. When it was released, it was already a good game that sold well for casual play, but over a decade later it still has the attention of many dedicated fans, especially thanks to its active speedrunning community. New aspects of the game have been found in its later years, causing BFBB to transform into an entirely different game than what people might remember from their childhoods. Its growing modding community has also unraveled many secrets regarding the game's design, development, and quirks. On June 5, 2019, THQ Nordic announced on Twitter and YouTube that a remastered version of the game will be made and it is called "SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom: Rehydrated." It is made by a different developer, Purple Light Studios, and it will be on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. It will contain cut content from the original game, like the Robo Squidward boss fight, Patrick's Screaming for Ice Cream level, and the third part of RoboBob. It will also contain online multiplayer with friends. The release date is sometime late in 2020.
